In 2005, Dr. David Lischner saw the need for a unique product that would relieve the time demands and stress put on psychiatrists and mental healthcare professionals. With this goal in mind, he created a complete psychiatry and therapy EMR solution that goes above and beyond your workflow and administrative demands.
Our whole team believes in the products we make and we love what we do, which is why we are all about unparalleled customer support. Our service staff consists of smart, friendly people with experience in back office administration and providing customer service. Additionally, many of us have a background in the mental health field, so we are particularly suited to help with all of your needs.
We strive to treat individuals with respect and integrity, which means that we continually aim to make great software and provide the best support available. For us, it means we get to come to a great office environment every day and work with other people that are passionate about technology and using it to improve the quality of life for both practitioners and their patients.

My name is Dr. David Lischner and I am the CEO of Vālant Medical Solutions and a psychiatrist at Evidence Based Treatment Centers of Seattle.
After receiving my M.D. from the University of Washington, I completed my medical internship at the University of Pennsylvania and returned to the University of Washington for my specialty training in psychiatry. Opening and operating Evidence Based Treatment Centers of Seattle, I became acutely aware of the time demands on private practice mental healthcare professionals. I knew that my colleagues would rather have more free time and greater time for patient care and productivity than stay in their offices late doing administrative work.
With this in mind, I was motivated to combine service-enabled web technologies with best administrative practices that would improve administrative processes, reduce burn-out in my colleagues, and improve patient care. With the help of other practitioners and a software development team that shared the same goal, we created the Vālant EMR and Practice Management System.

I founded Vālant with my brother, David Lischner, M.D.
I am a software developer with extensive experience in all phases of software development. As CTO I oversee the development of all software at Vālant.
I have over 15 years experience working in corporate settings. This includes over 8 years at AT&T Wireless Services, starting as the sole corporate IT software developer at McCaw Cellular before it was acquired by AT&T and finishing as Senior Technical Architect for Customer Systems. It also includes 2 years at Talisma Corporation developing custom solutions for their world class Customer Relationship Management (CRM) product.
After volunteering to spend one year in Indonesia with Peace Brigades International, I saw an opportunity to use my talent at home to develop software tools that enhanced the doctor-patient experience and empower physicians to provide better care.

I am the Director of Sales at Vālant Medical Solutions as well as the Chief Operating Officer at Vālant’s partner company, the Evidence Based Treatment Centers of Seattle (www.ebtseattle.com – a 25 provider behavioral healthcare group practice). I am committed to making health care more available to the community and have completed my MBA, with an emphasis on Health Administration, in order to bring the best operations/business practices to the field of behavioral healthcare. I am very excited about helping practices implement EMR systems, as I believe it will help facilitate higher efficiency and effectiveness in Health Care Systems.

I am an experienced CFO with a strong background in technology companies ranging from startups to mature public companies. In addition, I have served as CEO of Teltone where she was responsible for expanding the company’s leadership position in cyber security for critical infrastructure and then served as Sr. VP of Corporate Development for the strategic buyer where I focused on M&A initiatives. Previously in public accounting, I hold a degree from the University of Washington.

I joined Vālant Medical Solutions as Director of Billing and Operations Manager. In my four years I have overseen the development and growth of Vālant’s practice management support services and general operations, and provided executive support and consultation in the development of the company’s web-based suite of EHR products. I joined the Vālant team compelled by the opportunities presented by working with a software startup and building the infrastructure needed to support the market leading mental health EMR vendor. I have eighteen years of experience within healthcare services administration.

I’ve been involved in startups for 18 years, about a dozen of those as a Chief Information Officer. At Valant Medical, as Chief Security Officer, I help assure that we live up to the standards of data assurance and security our customers expect from us. Prior to Valant, I was the CIO and co-founder of Zango, a $75 million/year company with half a dozen global offices and over 200 employees. I’ve performed multiple national and international acquisitions and integrations, and been involved in several multi-million dollar rounds of financing. Since leaving Zango in 2008 I’ve been helping startups and small companies use their IT assets to increase profit, corporate value, and discretionary time.
I’m the managing partner of CIO TimeSlice, a member of the Bellevue chapter of Keiretsu Forum, and on the IT advisory committee for Bellevue College. I’m a sponsor of the Seattle Children’s Theater and several organizations through kiva.org.

As Development Manager, I am committed to delivering a quality product to our customers in a cost effective manner, and consider education to be a continuous process.
During more than 25 years in the Information Systems area, I have worked with many well known fortune 500 organizations. I have served as Project Management and / or Lead Developer on many high volume internet commerce and entertainment applications. I have driven the development from concept to mature products, as one of the founding partners, the Focus3 SalesManager™ Suite. I have previously been involved in developing software applications for B2B eCommerce, wireless internet, and traditional web markets. I was drawn to Valant, because of the commitment, energy, and professionalism that the team exhibits.

As Director of Support at Vālant, my responsibilities include overseeing our support department, managing our transcription team, and ensuring customer satisfaction. Besides my support duties, I also play a role in the development of Vālant’s current product as well as help plan future improvements and explore potential new additions to our system.
I graduated Magna Cum Laude from The Georgia Institute of Technology with a bachelors in Electrical Engineering. After completing my undergraduate degree, I was honored with a fellowship by Texas Instruments to continue my studies in the college’s graduate program. I have since worked as an Electrical Engineer with Texas Instruments in Texas, as a Patent Examiner with the US Patent and Trademark Office in Washington, DC, and as a Product Developer with an online dental laboratory startup company called Transcend in Massachusetts.

I am responsible for getting the word out about Vālant, planning our conference appearances, and following through on projects to meet marketing goals. In my spare time I enjoy photography, baking, and playing video games. Fun fact: I am the voice on the Easy Billing training video.

I am an account manager in the billing department. I bill both patients and insurance companies for our back-office billing clients. I love to read for pleasure (all my shelves have books behind books) and I love volunteering at my local greyhound rescue facility!

I am an account manager in the sales department. I make sure that prospective customers find the products and services that provide the most value to their practice. Additionally, I am the HIPAA Privacy Officer within Vālant. And, most importantly, I am a die-hard college sports fan, Go Huskies!

I provide support for the EMR, billing, and accounting departments. They call me the “Jack of all Trades”… I love watching animated movies, and funny TV shows! (And yes, I am a college graduate.)

I train and support our customers to the best of my ability.

I train people on how to use our EMR and answer any questions they have. I also handle scheduling for some of our providers. I enjoy going running with friends, watching football, and walking my dog around Greenlake.
