In February 2009, President Obama signed into law the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA). Under the part of the stimulus plan referred to as the HITECH Act, eligible providers can qualify for up to $44,000 in Medicare and $63,750 in Medicaid incentives if they demonstrate ‘meaningful use’ of a certified EMR/EHR.
