Hardware requirements

• PC or Mac: Must be able to run the operating system and software required below. Mac users who would like to purchase EasyBilling must have an Intel-based processor.
• Internet connection: A high-speed internet connection is strongly recommended for all Vālant customers, and is required for those using our transcription services. A hard-wired cable or T1 connection will provide the fastest experience with the system, while a hard-wired DSL connection will provide a slower one. We recommend AGAINST using a wireless connection to access the Vālant system.

Software requirements

• PC users: Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer are supported web browsers. For ePrescribing and EasyBilling with full EDI support, Internet Explorer must be used.
• Mac users: Mozilla Firefox is the only supported web browser for the Mac operating system. Safari is not supported.
• The Vālant Psychiatric Suite uses the latest technology to ensure security and reliability. This includes Secure Socket Layer (SSL) 3.0 protocol with 128 bit encryption for secure communications and JavaScript for a responsive interactive experience. We recommend that you always use the most up-to-date browser for the highest level of security.

For document management functions

• Software for viewing Microsoft Word documents such as Microsoft Office Word, Microsoft Word Viewer, or OpenOffice.org Writer
• Adobe Reader 5.0.5 or later
• Any Operating System capable of running the above software (for Microsoft Windows users, Windows XP Professional is strongly recommended for enhanced security over Windows XP Home)

Soon after signing up, you will receive a welcome email from your personal account manager. The email will provide details for a web-based training session, during which you will learn the basic functions of the Vālant system.

You would have a choice. We can make all data available to you in the digital format that you would find most useful (i.e. CD-ROM, removable media). Alternatively, for a small fee we can keep and manage your medical records, practice documents and financial data for as long as you'd like.
